The objective of this study is to determine the quality of rainwater stored on the roofs of the houses of the Association of Autonomous Women of Pastaza (AMAP) for human consumption. Three samples were taken from different houses with different types of roofs (2 year old zinc, 10 year old zinc and 5 year old tile). The results obtained were compared with the parameters established in the current regulations for human consumption. The analyses carried out showed that the physicochemical and microbiological composition of the rainwater requires potabilisation treatment to stabilise the values that exceed the permissible ranges, including the pH of the samples, which showed low values with an average of 5.37, which determined that the water is acidic, as well as the high levels of faecal coliforms with an average of 1.8 nmp/100ml.
